We have a slew of doctors appointments this week – yesterday she saw Pulmonology and Nephrology.

Thankfully her lungs are clear but this cold is kicking her butt. And of course our night nurse called out for the rest of the week an hour before her shift.

I felt a little out of place in the waiting room at the doctors while another mom sat with her little girl across from us. Maggie was angry so I pulled her out of her carseat and had to give her a quick suction and then I just rocked her. I knew they were staring and probably wondering what that thing was coming out of her neck.

Calm down, Karen, it’s just a trach.

Maggie’s poor little kidneys are struggling. We’ve learned that it’s her kidneys that are bleeding while she’s on the blood thinner but if we take her off, we run the risk of her creating more clots or one of her clots getting worse.

For those who don’t know, Maggie’s right kidney is atrophy (underdeveloped/not working well) and the left has a grade level 4 reflux (urine flows in wrong direction).

Because of this, she struggles with high blood pressure, UTIs and kidney stones. She takes medications to maintain all of these.

We meet with Hematology and Urology later this week then Peds surgery the next. Gl and Cardiology will be following.

We just ask for continued prayers that Mags can get over this cold and feel herself again. She sure is loved.
